Well-Deserved Recognition
If you’ve attended a Footers Catering event in Denver over the past 30 years, there’s a good chance you’ve been served food by one of two event chefs: Sam “Bam” Robinson or Ronney Reynolds.
Between them, they’ve spent over 50 years behind the scenes preparing incredible food for our clients. They started working for my dad when I was in high school, and I never would have imagined that 30 years later I’d still have the opportunity to work alongside them. To say they’ve had an impact on our company would be an understatement.
They navigated the transition of ownership from my father to April and me when others chose not to adapt to the direction we were taking. They’ve been two of the most reliable people on our team. Always willing to work any shift, any time, with anyone.
They’re often recognized by clients and guests with big hugs and stories from past events. They look out for other vendors, offering meals and a helping hand, knowing it takes a full team to pull off a great event. And they are two of the most trusted and beloved people in our company.

Every organization has people like this. They may not have big titles. They may not be in leadership roles on paper. But they show up every day, do their job with pride, and make everyone around them better. They are the unsung heroes.
They’re not chasing recognition. They’re not looking for the spotlight. They simply care about doing great work and being part of something meaningful. And because of that, they’re often overlooked.
Last week, that changed.
Sam Bam and Ronney were recognized by the Colorado Event Alliance with a Hall of Fame Award for their legacy of excellence and impact in our industry. For once, they weren’t behind the scenes. They got dressed up, sat at a table, and were the guests.
Sam leaned over to me during dinner and said, “I’m not used to this… I’m usually in the back on the truck cooking.”
When their names were announced for the final award of the night, our table erupted. There were hugs, smiles, and more than a few tears. People from across the industry came up to share stories and thank them for the role they’ve played over the years.
It meant so much to them. Not because they were seeking it… but because it acknowledged what they’ve quietly done for decades.
It was powerful to see them celebrated in front of so many peers. And it made me think about leadership. As leaders, it’s easy to focus recognition on the loudest voices, the biggest wins, or the most visible roles. But the foundation of any great organization is built by people like Sam Bam and Ronney.
I’m so grateful for their contributions to Footers Catering. I can honestly say we would not be where we are today without them on our team and it was an honor to see a light shined on them.
