Adopting Technology

“AI will not replace humans, but those who use AI will replace those who don’t.”

– Ginny Rometty, former CEO of IBM

INTRO

Every significant advancement in technology has changed how we work, but the most successful organizations have always found ways to use technology to amplify people, not replace them. AI gives us an opportunity to automate routine tasks, accelerate learning, and eliminate busy work so we can devote more time to serving customers, developing our teammates, solving meaningful problems, and building stronger relationships. Instead of asking: "How can we use more AI?"  This month we hope you will ask: "Where can AI help us spend more time doing the work that only humans can do?"

EXERCISE

AI QUESTIONNAIRE

Give your team time to fill out the worksheet. This will give them time to think before they influence one another with their responses!

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Download and Print a Questionnaire for each member of your meeting. Allow enough time for them to meaningfully complete the questions.

  • Go through each question one at a time and have team members share what they wrote. Not everyone needs to share their answer for every question. Make some notes on a dry erase board or a post-it poster sheet. Once everyone has shared, move on to the discussion questions.

DISCUSSION

  • What is one AI experiment we should realistically try this month?

  • If AI gave every person on your team one extra hour every week...how would you want them to spend it?

  • Looking at everything we've discussed, where is the single biggest opportunity for our team?

CLOSING

Reflect on what has been said and end with an action plan written on a post-it poster sheet.

Keep - What is one way we are already using AI effectively that we should continue or expand?

Try - What is one new use of AI we will experiment with this month?

Champion - Who will take ownership of this experiment?

*The champion does not need to be the company’s AI expert. Their role is to organize the test, encourage participation, answer questions, document what is learned, and keep the experiment moving forward.

Measure - How will we know whether the experiment was worthwhile?

Protect - What is one principle or guideline we will follow when using AI?

If AI creates capacity, what will we choose to do with that capacity?
